The reservoirs are usually filled with water from the River Cuckmere and River Ouse, in the winter, ready for the extra demand in the summer months.
Our reservoirs are a vital water source throughout the summer months, providing millions of additional litres daily to meet the higher demand.
Our most significant reservoirs in Sussex, Ardingly and Arlington, store up to 8,300 million litres of water and supply 8% of all the water we provide.
This is in addition to the millions of litres we sustainably abstract from boreholes and chalk aquifers.
Our reservoirs may look slightly low when summer ends, but this is entirely normal, as they are refilled between October and April with higher rainfall and river flows.
Currently, Ardingly and Arlington reservoirs are approximately 81% and 73% full, respectively.
Saving water is vital all year round to minimise supply disruption when demand is at its highest.
